My View on the event City Venture

My personal view
The success of an event is contributed by each and everyone in the team. Every drop of sweat from each individual in the committee makes a difference. Therefore I shall say that every team has their own success story.
City Venture is the first mega event that I had involved. Despite some initial frictions, I still joined back the team much later. Although I had missed much of the action being carried out by the committee, I managed “dissolved” myself back.
Our first few meetings that I had attended were an eye opening experience. We started everything from scrap. All the major, long term decisions were in placed. With the help of the seniors, Jie Chao … etc… and the great leadership from our spiritual leader Yan Yan and whom I regard her as an iron lady, all the planning goes on smoothly.
Sadly, my service to City Venture was disrupted by some minor issues, hiccups and personnel issues. They found me MIA for two weeks and were constantly asking me when I am joining back, have already made me very guilty. Wei Jie was the one who made much of the effort to pull me back and till now I remain grateful.
On the second meeting after I had returned, I found myself lost. However, I had seen massive preparation was already in process. Although, knowing that they need help badly, sadly, I am quite a shy guy and often stay quietly at one comer waiting to “do” people any favor.
My knowledge of what had constituted to the success of City Venture remain shallow but I do know that May, Xiu Rong , Yong Xiang, Rebecca, Desiree, Jack and Justin had been very active toward the success of this game. My respect to them will never below anyone who deserves my respect in my 25 years of life.
Although, I had some experience in handling some small projects before (in my own style), I can’t count myself very experience in coordinating an event. The reason to the previous statement relates to the following question.
Why did I say that this was an eye opening experience or in another word, what can I learn from this event?
Base on what I see: About the saga on the eating place which was under renovation, May and Yong Xiang exhibited great leadership skills. This also presses on to the importance of putting the right people at the right place. Dog and bone incident, an immediate change in the way game was played due to safety reasons. Seriously, at that point of time, my mind was a blank. Justin managed to come out with “duck walk” rather than “running”. Yap, City Venture needs people who are innovative, people who are able to think out of the box, people who can make old games look new or less risky and fast thinker.
Finally, last incident which I wanna talk about, on the very last day before we set off to our respective station, Yan Yan had a briefing which ends with many, call me! call me! This reflected the importance of co-ordination, one of the five important key points to a successful team.
I have to say this with a sign. It seems to me that learning never stops.
I always believe that everyone who was involved was important and these include many others who were not mention. Not to forget the participants, they do play an important part. Before I end, I still must mention, Yan Yan, the IC of CV, is a super iron woman. She didn’t sleep well for many nights. She hardly sleeps on the 10th November night. I had seen it with my eyes (referring to the 10th nov). Yan Yan , you rock!!
Not knowing, it is already late at 2.30 am. Just before I stop typing, I hope that my fellow CV mates, especially Yan Yan had slept well for the past few nights. CV BABES and DUDES, you rock!!!!.
